Local Hero finalist is “like Superwoman”
Wootton Post Office was a finalist in the Local Hero category at the Post Office’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ regional awards for the Midlands region.
The awards recognise the efforts made by postmasters across the region to keep branches open during the COVID-19 pandemic and serving their local community.
The great work by Postmaster Dee Lehal, who runs Wootton Post Office, was highlighted last night by Post Office area manager Paul Mead. He said:
“Postmistress Dee from Wootton Post Office has been nominated for our Local Hero award for going the extra mile during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Dee has single-handedly run the Post Office since her husband passed away a few years ago. She visits vulnerable customers during her lunch break to make sure they are okay, and to get essential supplies to them.
“The only adjustments she has made to her opening hours, is to make her lunch break two hours instead of one, so she can check on more vulnerable customers.
“Dee’s commitment to her customers goes well above and beyond the port of call, she gives up most of her free time to ensure they are safe. She is like Superwoman!”
