Bird keepers urged to prepare for winter Avian Flu threat

The Chief Veterinary Officers across the UK are encouraging all poultry keepers to take action now to reduce the risk of disease in their birds over the winter.

There are some simple measures that all poultry keepers, whether they are running a large commercial farm, keeping a few hens in their back garden, or rearing game birds, should take to protect their birds against the threat of avian influenza (bird flu) in the coming winter months.

Company HQ plans shown to Brogborough Parish Council

Representatives from Dawsongroup plc gave a presentation to Brogborough Parish Council on Wednesday (4 September 2019) to explain the company’s new plans to build its headquarters in the village.

It is currently based in Tongwell, Milton Keynes, but Freya Dawson, Dawsongroup’s property director, told the meeting that “we are now at bursting point”.

“Give Covanta a bloody nose”

At a Rookery South Community Energy Initiative (RSCEI) presentation to Cranfield Parish Council Councillor Robert Morris, ward councillor for Cranfield and Marston Moretaine, urged residents to sign up to the scheme.

He said:
“I strongly recommend that people apply for the scheme

“Because every penny that comes from this means that it’s a penny less that Covanta will have in their pockets.

“You are, technically, giving them a bloody nose by taking the money.”

Sounds Familiar Community Choir is looking for new members

Do you like singing for fun?
Following its post-Christmas break, the Sounds Familiar Community Choir will re-commence rehearsals on Tuesday, February 5th at 7.30p.m at Cranfield Baptist church.

The choir, which sings for fun and for charity, is looking out for new members, particularly of the male variety! No audition is needed. Being able to read music not essential either.

Central Bedfordshire Council obtains traveller High Court injunction

Travellers banned from parts of Central Bedfordshire

Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) has gained an injunction banning eleven named individuals from setting up unauthorised encampments anywhere in Central Bedfordshire over the next two years.

During summer in 2017 these individuals and their families moved from site to site across Central Bedfordshire. The Council said that this caused disruption which impacted local communities.
