Bedford Borough Council tulip giveaway to Wootton Peace Garden

Bedford Borough Council has given tulip bulbs to Wootton Upper School for the Wootton Peace Garden, following the tulip bulb giveaway earlier this year.
The Council gave away approximately 6,600 tulip bulbs from last spring’s Embankment floral display. These were given to schools, charities and community groups in the Borough.

Bedfordshire Police is investigating a suspected arson in the early hours of Sunday (27 September 2020) in Harris Way, Wootton. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of a fire at approximately 2.30am, and notified the police of the incident.
Emergency services attended and the address was safely evacuated and the fire was extinguished.

As we transition into a different phase of ‘lockdown’, people are experiencing new found freedom as we return to local pubs, restaurants and shops again. For some people this new stage is exactly what they have been waiting for, but for others the easing of government guidance can bring a new set of worries.
For anyone reading this who may feel anxious about returning to normality, Bedfordshire Police’s PCSO James Dancer would like to let you know that your local policing team is still here. Policing hasn’t stopped throughout this pandemic and we are regularly patrolling your villages and continue to carry out our day-to-day work to protect people.

Following a fire at a block of flats in Wootton, Bedfordshire in the early hours of Saturday morning, (23 May 2020), a village Facebook Group has been inundated with offers of help for the families who lost all their possessions.
There have been offers of bedding, clothing and toys. Also, Cherie Griggs started a GoFundMe page to raise money. On the page she said that the fire was “utterly devastating for a family friend.”
