RAF Henlow was identified for disposal in 2016. Homes England and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation are holding a series of online engagement events to share their plans for the site.
On 31 October, 2 November and 3 November 2020, the local community and key stakeholders will be able to give their views on the proposals for RAF Henlow.
Currently, RAF Henlow is targeted for vacation by 2023 and phasing of this has already commenced. Homes England, the Government’s national housing agency, and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, the Ministry of Defence’s estate expert, are working in partnership to shape redevelopment proposals for the future use of RAF Henlow.
Kate McBride, head of Planning and Enabling at Homes England said:
“We want to work with the local community to make sure that the plans for Henlow are developed with the local communities.
“We hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend one of our online events next month.”
The proposals for the site include the building of new homes, employment opportunities and community facilities. Catherine Davis, DIO head of Estates, said:
“We look forward to hearing ideas from the local community about how the site should be developed. It is important that the development is right for the community so please do share your views with us.”
Work is at an early stage and local people and other stakeholders are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas. These engagement events in October and November will be the first in a series of event that will be held as the proposals for the site progress.
