Health bosses across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) are asking the public to book their COVID-19 vaccinations through either the national booking system or by calling 119.

This is following the successes of the drop-in sessions across the area, including the Super Sunday weekend, where there were over 1300 walk-ins on a single day.

Dr Sarah Whiteman, chair of NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

“The message I would like to share with the public is ‘Booking is Best’. We want to ensure the best experience for the public, we have a large number of slots available, but we are asking people to book first where they can to avoid any disappointment.

“While our drop-in slots are still there, we want people to know that if they do choose that option, they may have to wait on the day or come back on another day. By booking you will confirm your appointment at a convenient time to you.

“So far, across BLMK, we have delivered nearly three quarters of a million first and second doses. That, in itself, is an incredible achievement.”

The National Booking Service can be accessed online or by calling 119 between 7am and 11pm. Bookings can be made for both first and second doses of the vaccine.

New appointment slots are being added continuously to the service, so if a suitable one can’t be found, do keep checking.

Additionally, for those living within Bedford Borough, and meet the criteria, they can book an appointment by visiting bedford.gov.uk/vaccinations or calling 01234 718077.

The booking systems will use the details provided by the patient to direct them to the best centre depending on their criteria including age and whether they are pregnant. There are several centres available, ranging from large vaccinations centres to high street pharmacies.
