Health advice via Twitter

Free healthcare advice will be provided through social media by a team of pharmacists between 1:30pm to 2:30pm on 29th November 2017.

This has been organised by Luton Clinical Commissioning Group and Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG’s).

Qualified pharmacists will provide expert advice on a range of health issues live via Twitter.

Assistant Director and Head of Medicines Optimisation at Bedfordshire CCG, Fiona Garnet, said:

“It’s great to be involved in such a creative initiative. The live session on social media is a fun way of making healthcare advice accessible and interactive for the public.

“Pharmacists do much more than dispense prescriptions and they should be the first person to contact for health concerns.

“Not only do they offer support on looking after yourself, they can also advise on how to treat common health issues such as colds, sore throats and earaches.”

A wide range of health services

Many pharmacies are open seven days a week and late into the evening, including Christmas and New Year Bank holidays.

Visitors can benefit from a range of services. Such as flu jabs, help to stop smoking, blood pressure, cholesterol and Body Mass Index checks.

Join the live session by following the Twitter accounts @NHS_LCCG and @NHS_BCCG.

To have your health questions answered email them in advance to communications@lutonccg.nhs.uk.

The team will also be answering questions that are sent in live via Twitter during the session.
