Captain Sir Tom Funeral

In a post on Twitter, Captain Sir Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, said that on Saturday the family were able to give Captain Sir Tom a fitting send off, that “adhered to his wishes in every way“.

“We played music he loved spoked words that filled us with joy and the addition of full military honours would’ve had him bursting with pride.

“Colin, Benjie, Georgia and I enjoyed the most amazing multi-generation life journey with my father and could never have predicted how the last year of his life could’ve inspired so many others.”

The funeral was attended by just eight members of his immediate family. Ms Ingram-Moore added:

“From the messages you have left in the book of condolence are truly wonderful and it is deeply moving to read how he helped others through this time.”

The tweet also announced that The Captain Tom Foundation will be celebrating his life on what would’ve been is 101st birthday.

“We will make sure it is an event that everyone in the UK and around the world can get involved in how it will truly celebrate his generosity of spirit the hope and joy he brought to millions and his sense of fun

“Please save the date 30th of April 2021.”
