Post Office to remain open on Saturday afternoons
Marston Moreteyne Post Office re-opened yesterday (3 July) after the completion of an 18-day refurbishment.
The changes are part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network. They are designed to make it easier for customers to do business in modern open plan environments.
Scott Lacey, Post Office Area Network Change Manager, said:
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
Open for an extra five hours a week
The Post Office on Bedford Road is a modern main branch with Post Office services provided from three counters. It has two full-screened counters and a Post Office serving point for selected services.
As part of the upgrade it has new opening hours. It is now open Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm. This is an extra five hours a week on Saturday afternoon.
Customers can do everything from cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, car tax renewal, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages, savings and top up mobile phones.
Customers can access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns.
Worried about banks closing local branches?
As the traditional banking network declines, customers for the majority (99%) of UK banks can use their post office for online banking cash deposits and withdrawals and bill payments.
Scott Lacey said:
“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”
