March is Free Wills Month, and Carers in Bedfordshire and McClure Solicitors have teamed up to offer a free service, all year round.
Free Wills Month allows those aged 55 and over to get a solicitor-drafted (or updated) will for free. However, McClure has also opened up the service to anyone aged 18 or over.
- Writing of your will free of charge
- Checking and updating your existing will free of charge
- All the solicitors ask is that you consider making a donation to charity
Jolene Retallick, Carers in Bedfordshire fundraising manager, said:
“Having a will can bring peace of mind; it’s your chance to say where you would like your assets to go after your death. We are delighted to have teamed up with McClure Solicitors to give everyone, including the carers we support, that peace of mind.
“Many people also support a charity or good cause during their lifetime and a will is a way of continuing that support if they wish to.”
Andrew Robertson, managing director at McClure Solicitors, said:
“Everyone benefits. You get the will or will review you need, while it helps Carers in Bedfordshire to receive much needed funds. And if you like the McClure service, you might use us for other work in the future. Over 200 charities now trust us to provide our Estate Planning services for their clients.”
The solicitors will offer two appointments with an Estate Planning Consultant. At the first, you will talk about what you want your will to include. In the second, you will check and sign your will.
During lockdown, appointments are being held by video call. This process is free but your consultant will ask if you want to make a donation to charity. This will be a donation that you make there and then, not a legacy gift in your will. There is no obligation to leave a gift.
