‘Have a go’ recruitment event
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting for On-Call Firefighters. It is holding a ‘have a go’ event which offers potential applicants a taste of what it might be like to be an on-call firefighter.
If you are thinking about joining the Fire Service you will have the opportunity to try a number of activities. These may include:
- Safe working on a ladder
- Equipment carrying
- Equipment assembly
- Using a hose
- Wearing of protective clothing and breathing apparatus (BA) equipment
The session will also include a talk given by existing members outlining the recruitment process for On-Call Firefighter roles. There will also be lots of opportunities during the day to ask questions with all the staff involved.
These ‘have a go’ events form part of the Service’s positive action to promote applications from under-represented areas of the community.
