Bedford gets ready for England v Italy

England v Italy is going to be extra special here in Bedford, and Bedford Borough Council and Bedfordshire Police are urging residents to enjoy the match safely.

Rates of COVID-19 have nearly doubled in the last week, with the most recent local figures showing over 200 cases per 100,000 of the population.

Bedfordshire FA and Cranfield Parish Council have announced that Cranfield Pavilion will be open for local grassroots football teams to use fully from the 2021-2022 season.

Bedfordshire Police asks football fans to support matches from home

Luton Town Football Club and public services in Bedfordshire are asking fans to stay at home and watch matches once the football season resumes.

Strict plans have been put in place by the EFL and Luton Town to ensure government guidelines are met and the safety of everyone involved is of the highest priority.

Season ticket holders will be able to stream all home and away fixtures using iFollow and 30 out of the 108 remaining Championship league games will be broadcast on Sky Sports.

Bedford Athletic RFC invites women to unleash their Inner Warrior

Bedford Athletic RFC is offering women the chance to unleash their Inner Warrior at one of England Rugby’s iconic Warrior Camps.

These are free fitness sessions that have a sprinkle of rugby focused activity.

For the first time, Warrior Camps will be taking place over four to five consecutive weekends. So participants can build some real momentum in their fitness regime whist truly getting to grips with the basics of rugby.

Each session will be slightly different, building on the previous week whilst increasing your confidence and skills under the guidance of experienced England Rugby community coaches.

Missing the first session is not a problem as the sessions are designed to enable women to join at any time throughout the series.

Sessions to take place every Saturday from 11th January to 8th February from 10:00-11:00am

Free tennis programme of Addison Howard Park

National sports charity ‘Tennis For Free’ has invested in a programme of free tennis at Addison Howard Park, Kempston.

In partnership with Bedford Borough Council and the LTA, Tennis For Free will provide free coach-led tennis sessions for all the family for one year as part of its aim to use tennis to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of all members of the community across the UK.

Addison Howard Tennis For Free sessions will be led by professional tennis coach Ryan Bezer and everyone is welcome, you don’t need a racket or a ball as all equipment is provided free of charge. All you need to do is sign up.

Bedfordshire Police: KickOff@3 achieves its community partnership ‘goal’

Bedfordshire Police hosted its first charity football tournament, KickOff@3, on Sunday (28 April), strengthening bonds between the police, the community and partners.
