Public survey launched on proposed change to how healthcare is organised in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes

At present there are three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) serving Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK). Each CCG is made up of clinicians, GP Member Practices and NHS managers.

A proposal is now being considered to bring together all three CCGs to form one organisation by April 2021. This would be called ‘NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group’.

New urgent eye care service now available in Bedfordshire

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the availability of a number of routine health services. As part of the local NHS recovery plan Bedfordshire and Luton Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have launched the new service to ensure the public can access urgent eye care.

Patients who have a new minor eye complaint can call a dedicated Freephone number, without the need for a referral from a GP or other healthcare professional.

After an initial assessment, patients will then be called by a clinician who will provide a telephone or video consultation and recommend treatment.

NHS Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 19 September at the Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick, Beds, MK45 1AH.

The BCCG is responsible for planning, organising and buying NHS-funded healthcare for the 441,000 people who live in Bedfordshire. This includes hospital, community health and mental health services.

Cold weather warning for Bedfordshire residents

Residents in Bedfordshire are being advised to take extra precautions as colder weather sweeps across the area later this week. NHS Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) is warning that prolonged periods of cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases.

The Met Office has issued a Level 2 cold weather alert for Bedfordshire for severe cold weather between Friday 18 January and Monday 21 January.
