Bedford’s Britannia Road works complete

The Transporting Bedford project on Britannia Road is now complete. The works were carried out to bring congestion easing measures to this well-known traffic hotspot in the town.
Britannia Road links two major roads in Bedford; Ampthill Road and Kempston Road, past Bedford Hospital South Wing.
This project has delivered a major change to the road layout. It has widened the road to create more space for traffic to flow, a new traffic light junction at King’s Place, and upgraded traffic lights along the length of the road to improve traffic flow.

Works will restart on Britannia Road next week, as part of the Transporting Bedford project.
The project is to deliver improvements to the well-known congestion hotspot, which links two major roads (Ampthill Road and Kempston Road) by the South Wing of Bedford Hospital.
