Etihad becomes first airline to join Cranfield’s digital aviation research project

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has joined the £65 million Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC), due to open next year at Cranfield University.
Etihad is the first airline to join the DARTeC consortium which has been working for the last four years to deliver the research facility.

Inmarsat, (mobile satellite communications) has announced (14 October 2020) that it will provide engineering support, communications services and equipment to Cranfield University’s Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) consortium, supported by Honeywell Aerospace.
Set to open during the first quarter of 2021, DARTeC will spearhead UK research into digital aviation technology.

Boeing has joined the £65 million Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC), due to become operational this summer at Cranfield University.
The Centre was built to research digital aviation technology. It includes an experimental airport terminal and a ‘hangar of the future’, fully instrumented for advanced digital maintenance repair and operations.
Boeing and Cranfield have been working together for over 25 years on a range of research and technology projects. Such as the development of new aircraft concepts and studies into passenger behaviour, cabin refurbishment and management processes.
