Bedfordshire’s Emergency Services: new scheme to help those with communication difficulties

Bedfordshire Police has chosen national Hate Crime Awareness Week to launch “Pegasus” – a new scheme to help those with autism, or other communication difficulties, when coming into contact with the emergency services.
The scheme is in association with Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service Trust. It is designed to assist those who live or work Bedfordshire, are independent in the community, with or without home help or care, and who have an illness or disability which makes it hard to speak or make themselves understood in a difficult situation.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) and the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) are working together on a new activity aimed at improving lives.
This new trial is being delivered by the BFRS Prevention Team who will be responding to vulnerable people who fall in their homes.
BFRS says that by delivering this new service means it can support EEAST during the busy winter season.
