The chair of the East West Rail Consortium said that it has welcomed the Government announcement of £760 million to support the new East West Rail line connecting communities between Oxford and Cambridge.
The funding is for part of the line between Oxford and Bletchley/Milton Keynes. This section of East West Rail is expected to be up and running by 2025.

East West Railway Company, the company responsible for delivering the new East West Rail connection between Oxford and Cambridge, has launched a new Community Hub on their website. It is encouraging local residents to get involved in how the new railway is developed.
The Community Hub provides a platform where people can ask questions, take part in surveys and discussions, and access information relating to their area.

It has been announced that East West Rail will be stopping at Bedford Midland station. This will connect the town directly to Cambridge and Oxford.
This ‘Central Section’ builds on the ‘Western Section’, connecting Oxford and Bicester with services through to Bedford.
Bedford Borough Council (BBC) said that this confirmation is excellent news for Bedford residents. It added thsat the increased connectivity will bring more opportunities to travel for work and leisure, as well as supporting economic growth and prosperity, attracting businesses and jobs.
BBC added that recent modelling in its Rail Strategy says that East West Rail is forecast to bring over £20million of additional economic activity to the Borough.
