Coronavirus enforcement in Bedfordshire boosted by surge funding
by John Guinn | Oct 9, 2020 | COVID-19 | 0
Police forces and local councils will receive an additional £60 million to step up the enforcement of coronavirus rules. This is part of the government’s plans to tackle the rise in infections.
The surge funding is to enable police to increase patrols in town centres and ensure that people are complying with the new restrictions, particularly in high-risk areas.
The government said that police will also provide more support to local authorities and NHS Test & Trace to enforce self-isolation requirements. Adding that local councils will use the funding to increase their compliance work and enforcement checks on businesses.
Bedfordshire Police will receive £270,485, Central Bedfordshire Council will get £112,886 and Bedford Borough £85,088.
