Bedford Borough Mayor Dave Hodgson has written to all the primary schools in the Borough inviting pupils to help design his Christmas card.

“Amidst all the turmoil of this year, I’d like to inject a little bit of normality and I’m inviting all primary-aged children to help design my 2020 Christmas card, with the theme of “A Happy Christmas.”

Bedford Borough Mayor awards funding to three charities

Bedford Borough Mayor has awarded funding to Autism Bedfordshire, Bedford Sea Cadets and Foodbank Bedford through his fundraising scheme.

These current Mayor’s charities have recently received £1,000. This funding goes towards helping the charities support the community in Bedford Borough.

Last November, these charities were awarded £1,650, bringing the total money donated in the last twelve months to £2,650 for each charity.

Bedford Borough Mayor calls for more support for local businesses and self-employed

Bedford Borough Mayor Dave Hodgson has today (8 May 2020) called on the Government to provide more support for local businesses and the self-employed.

Whilst the Government has made funding available for some businesses, including some new discretionary funding, many have not been able to access any support, including those that do not pay rates, such as home-based businesses, mobile workers.
