Bedford Borough Council’s (BBC) bin crews, as key workers, are working to continue to collect household waste and recycling during the COVID-19 Lockdown.
To keep the public and Council staff safe, BBC has taken the decision to stop the provision of orange recycling sacks from outlets, including from its Customer Service Centre.

Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) and its waste and recycling collections partner FCC Environment has a fleet of 34 new waste and recycling trucks. These took to the roads at the beginning of February. CBC wants residents to get involved and help to name them.
The trucks will be collecting; glass bottles and jars; plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, food cans, drinks cans, cartons, garden waste, and much, much more.
CBC wants inspired names for its trucks and the 34 best responses, as selected by our panel of judges, will feature on the side of the trucks.
All entries must be less than 25 characters, CBC ask that all residents “keep it clean”.Read More
If you cannot plant your real Christmas tree in the garden, don’t forget to recycle it.
23 tonnes of real Christmas trees were collected from collection points across Bedford Borough last year.
Real Christmas trees can be dropped off at Christmas tree recycling sites between Saturday 4 January and Saturday 12 January, where they will be taken away for composting.Read More

Recycle Week 2018
Bedford Borough Council is using Recycle Week 2018 to remind residents of the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. TV shows such as Blue Planet II and major developments towards reducing unnecessary plastic have motivated people to care about the environment in a way they never have before.
According to RecycleNow, it’s estimated that an average of 35.8 million plastic bottles are used every day across the UK. But only 19.8million of them are recycled – meaning there are on average 16million plastic bottles are not making it to a recycling bin.Read More
