Bedford Borough Play areas open from Thursday 23 July

Some children’s play areas and outdoor gyms in Bedford Borough will be opening from noon on Thursday 23 July.
The Council has been working to get its over 120 play areas ready for reopening, in line with Government guidance to keep the public safe.
This work has included the removal of some equipment to help maintain social distancing. Some signage has also been added to publicise the rules that people must follow to stay safe when using the play equipment.

Detectives are investigating after a Bedfordshire Police officer was assaulted while responding to a breach of the coronavirus regulations.
Around 20 people were at a party in Underwood Close, Luton on Saturday night (13 June 2020) when officers responded.
As they attempted to break the gathering up, one officers had a drink thrown in his face by a man and was then hit over the head with an object.

In preparation for the reopening of shops, beginning tomorrow (15 June 2020), the British Retail Consortium along with twenty-five retailers have come together to launch five simple steps to encourage considerate shopping.
The retailers are urging the public to play their part in creating a safe and enjoyable retail environment for other customers and retail staff.

People thinking of using the train to go shopping and for leisure trips as lockdown eases on 15 June, are being reminded to avoid the morning and evening peaks to help keep the railway clear for key workers and others who need it most.
Those who must travel by train should follow these clear guidelines:
From 15 June, as a passenger, you must wear a face covering
Try to avoid the busy times of the day between 06.30 and 09.00 and 16.00 to 18.00
Book tickets online and use contactless payments wherever possible
Please keep your distance
Carry hand sanitiser and wash your hands before and after travelling
