Ban on use of unregulated care homes for under 16s welcomed across Bedfordshire

A ban on placing vulnerable children under the age of 16 into unregulated accommodation has been welcomed by police and partners across Bedfordshire.
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson announced the change today (19 February 2021) as part of a series of reforms to drive up standards in children’s social care and help to ensure the most vulnerable are cared for in settings that best meet their needs.
The announcement follows concerns being raised by partners across Bedfordshire.

The chair of the East West Rail Consortium said that it has welcomed the Government announcement of £760 million to support the new East West Rail line connecting communities between Oxford and Cambridge.
The funding is for part of the line between Oxford and Bletchley/Milton Keynes. This section of East West Rail is expected to be up and running by 2025.
