Bedford Borough launches Test and Trace Support Payment

Following the Government’s announcement of a new financial support package for those required to self-isolate due to coronavirus, Bedford Borough Council has launched an online application form for residents who are eligible for support.

This package of support offers a payment of £500 to residents who are on low incomes, in receipt of certain benefits and are required to self-isolate because they have received a positive test result or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

This is designed to support people on low incomes if they will lose money because of self-isolating, and will encourage people to get tested

Bedford businesses reminded to register for new Test and Trace App

The government has released new legislation as part of its efforts to drive down the rate of coronavirus infection and support the test and trace system.

On Friday 18 September, it became law for hospitality venues to enforce the rule of six or face a fine of up to £4,000. They also have to log contact details for customer, visitors and staff as part of NHS Test and Trace.

From today, Thursday 24 September 2020, this has been extended so that it will be a legal requirement to display an official NHS QR code poster to help people check in to venues.

Bedfordshire Police issues warning on NHS Test and Trace scams

Bedfordshire Police is urging members of the public to be vigilant following reports of fraudsters posing as people from the NHS Test and Trace service.

The Test and Trace system is part of the government’s efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus. It uses contact tracers to get in touch with those who have had recent close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

But, a number of fraudsters are using this to their advantage and posing as contact tracers to trick people into parting with their personal information.
