Introducing Movies on the Mound at The Stables

The Stables, the popular music venue, has announced a special outdoor series of classic films for all the family to enjoy. Over the weekends of 7-9 and 14-16 August, the venue will be offering a ’boutique’ drive-in-and-dine experience in its leafy grounds.

A programme of 16 titles includes Grease, La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Blinded By The Light and Dolittle.

The Stables: Planning Inspector decides in favour of Abbey Homes

The Stables has been notified by Milton Keynes Council that the appeal by Abbey Homes against the decision by Milton Keynes Council to impose a deed of easement condition on the western part of the development site next to The Stables has been granted.

The Government Planning Inspector has decided in favour of Abbey Homes on the grounds that the decision to impose the deed of easement should have been dealt with at outline planning stage, not at the later reserved matters stage. He further judged that the western part of the site was sufficiently far from The Stables that noise would not be an issue for future residents.

New homes near The Stables – planning update

The Stables is grateful to the members of Milton Keynes Development Control Committee for refusing the latest application from Abbey Homes. The developers had applied for a Certificate of Lawful Development.

This would have allowed them to proceed with building next to The Stables without implementing the condition of a Deed of Easement (condition 14), which was applied to the original planning permission granted for the site.

At the committee meeting held on 9 January 2020 Council members agreed with the recommendations from officers to refuse permission and to enable appropriate enforcement action is if the condition is breached.

Large Strategic Grant awarded to The Stables by MK Community Foundation

MK Community Foundation are delighted to award The Stables Theatre in Milton Keynes a Large Strategic Grant of £95,000. The grant, which will be awarded over two years, will be used to fund an extensive programme designed to enhance the organisation’s approach to working with D/deaf and disabled communities as participants, audience members and performers.

Applications now open for 2019 National Youth Music Camps

Applications have opened for this year’s National Youth Music Camps, which take place over three weeks during July and August.

The National Youth Music Camps offer young people of all musical abilities the chance to come together and take part in an inspiring and varied week-long music and camping experience. Now in their 49th year, they are managed by The Stables Theatre in Milton Keynes, one of the UK’s leading music organisations. Alumni include Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Guy Chambers (songwriter for Robbie Williams) and Tim Firth (writer of Calendar Girls). This year’s Camps will be taking place at Piper’s Corner School in Great Kingshill near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Brian McFadden live UK Tour comes to Milton Keynes

Brian McFadden has a brand new album out, Otis, and he’s taking it on tour around the UK this April 2019. He will be visiting Liverpool, Birmingham, Southampton, Milton Keynes and Glasgow.
