Call to Bedford Residents: “stay hydrated and prevent plastic pollution this summer”
by John Guinn | Aug 9, 2020 | Health, Lifestyle | 0
Refill Bedford is encouraging the people of Bedford to choose to reuse by opting for a reusable water bottle and filling up on the go, rather than buying a single-use plastic bottle.
Refill is a nationwide scheme providing a network of points offering the public free tap water in the UK. The network comprises high street retailers, cafes, restaurants, other businesses, museums, and local authorities.
Refill Bedford said that in the UK, we make our way through 7.7 BILLION plastic water bottles every year and an estimated 700,000 plastic bottles are littered every single day.
Water UK, the trade association and Refill partners, said that this country’s drinking water is of the highest standard, among the best in the world. Adding that very strict standards apply to piped drinking water to protect public health.

The research began in October last year. Results from the first four months found that residences with display units had showers that were around 20 to 30 per cent shorter (on average) compared to those with sensors only. Saving roughly two minutes per shower.
