The trains were formerly in service on London Underground’s District Line
New Class 230 D Trains have come into service on the Marston Vale Line (Bedford – Bletchley). The train, which has been developed by Vivarail, will provide extra capacity and a more comfortable journey for passengers on the Line.
The Marston Vale Line is the first route in the country to benefit from these ground-breaking new trains!
The Class 230s were formerly in service on the District Line on the London Underground. They have had a full refurbishment, complete with the fitting of diesel generators and brand new interiors. These were designed especially for the Line in consultation with the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership.

The Marston Vale Line will see an improved timetable in May
Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership celebrated the first day of the trains being in service by distributing special upcycled goody bags to passengers courtesy of London Northwestern Railway.
The Marston Vale Line will also see an improved timetable in May with an additional early evening service, later evening trains and a new Bank Holiday service.
Stephen Sleight, Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership Officer, said:
“I am delighted to see the first of the new Class 230 units operating on the Marston Vale Line! Passengers have been looking forward to these trains for some time.
“Marston Vale CRP has really welcomed the opportunity to be involved in their interior layout & design.
