Weekend of free sports and activity programmes for women and girls comes to Bedford Photo by bruce mars on Unsplash

John Bunyan Sport and Fitness, Bedford International Athletic Stadium, Bedford Park, and Central Library will all be hosting sports and activity sessions from Friday 26th April to Sunday 28th April.

Activities including walking netball and football, cheer leading, spin class, yoga, and even a tug of war.

A Council spokesperson said:

“It is fantastic to be able to offer these free activities for women and girls, supported by the Council and our leisure partners Fusion Lifestyle, working with the National Lottery and Sport England through the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign.

“Research by ‘This Girl Can’ has shown that many women are put off taking part in sports or physical activity due to fear of judgement. We hope these sessions will offer a great chance for women and girls to try something new, in a friendly environment, and completely for free.”

While most of the sessions are just for women and girls, everyone is welcome to the ‘Family Fun Friday’ session at the Athletic Stadium.

All the sessions are free, and based on a first-come, first-served basis with some sessions having limited numbers. When attending the session you will be asked to fill out a Rewards Card application form. If you already have a Fusion Rewards Card please bring this with you.
