Wootton postmaster celebrates 30 years’ of dedication to Post Office Services

Daljit Lehal, known as Dee, is celebrating 30 year’s service to the Post Office at Wootton Post Office, located at 46-48 Bedford Road, Wootton, Bedford, MK43 9JT.

Dee was working for the British Medical Association in the library, when her late husband, Shamus, wanted to fulfil his dreams of owning a shop.

And so, the pair, alongside their two daughters, Sheron and Reena and later their son Jesse, took on the Wootton Post Office branch and shop in July 1991.

Bedfordshire Police appeal for information following Wootton stabbing

Bedfordshire Police detectives are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Wootton on Saturday (26 June 2021).

At around 6pm, officers were called to reports of a stabbing at an address in Cynthia Court.

A group of men, believed to be four or five people, attacked a man after entering his property, and were seen fleeing the scene by taxis shortly after.

Community of day engagement in Wootton

Bedfordshire Police’s North Rural Community Team held a community day of engagement in Wootton on 16 June 2021 to check in with residents and identify local priorities.
Throughout the day officers worked in partnership with the local council and housing association to address issues of anti-social behaviour, drug crime, speeding and other driving offences.

Bedford Borough libraries to reopen in phases

From Monday 12 April, Bedford Borough libraries will begin to reopen on a phased basis in line with the “next step” of the Government’s COVID-19 roadmap out of lockdown.

Bedford Central and Kempston libraries will open from 12 April 2021, with Putnoe Library opening from 19 April 2021.

Bromham and Wootton libraries will open from 26 April 2021.

Wootton resident wins charity award for outstanding support

Charity Pet Blood Bank UK has announced Wootton, Bedfordshire resident Marie Dennis as one of the winners in its Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award 2019-20.

Marie was recognised with the Ambassador Award for her outstanding commitment to supporting the charity and raising awareness of its work. Marie began supporting Pet Blood Bank after her own dog Grace needed a lifesaving blood transfusion several years ago.
