LibraryPlus scheme offers greater access to Wootton Library
LibraryPlus, Bedford Borough Council’s scheme to increase library usage, has gained over 7,500 members since its launch.
In September last year the Borough’s libraries started working in a whole new way. This included the start of self-service hours through LibraryPlus membership at Wootton Library.
Mayor Dave Hodgson said:
“LibraryPlus has seen additional hours of opening including Sunday opening at Bedford Central Library, and we have continued to keep all of our libraries open.”
Three libraries offer LibraryPlus
LibraryPlus also includes Bedford Central and Bromham libraries. Bedford Central Library is now open on Sundays and bank holidays.
LibraryPlus members are able to use the libraries when it is more convenient for them. This could be during the staffed or the self-service hours at the three participating libraries.
Cllr Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said:
“This was a big change to how our libraries operate but the way it has been embraced by new and existing library users has been really encouraging.”
The new opening hours and further information about LibraryPlus is available at www.bedford.gov.uk/LibraryPlus.
