Fire Door Safety Week highlights lack of general awareness in role of fire doors IronmongeryDirect’s survey of 2,000 adults found that 54% of people in Bedfordshire have seen a fire door being illegally wedged open. This compares to the UK-wide statistic of almost one in two people (49%). Also, 20% of respondents in East Anglia were unaware that fire doors must shut at all times. Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s flu warning Pregnant women are being encouraged to get a free flu jab before the flu virus starts to circulate. Dr. Sanhita Chakrabarti, Bedfordshire lead clinician working with women and children, said: “I would urge anyone who is pregnant to get the flu vaccination as soon as possible. “During pregnancy, a woman’s immune system is naturally lower to ensure that the pregnancy is successful.” Complications caused by flu includes premature births and low birth weights. “The flu vaccination is the best protection against flu. Ryanair cancellations: Advice from the UK European Consumer Centre

Cancelled flights Ryanair has announced that it is cancelling 40-50 flights a day until the end of October 2017.   The airline said that the cancellations are due to a backlog of staff holidays.   Because of this some passengers may be unable to get to their holiday when they expected to. Others may be unable to get home from their trip when they wanted to.   UK Consumers with cancelled flights have protection under EC Regulation 261/2004.   Ryanair has released a full list of affected flights. Help for small businesses affected by large increases in business rates Local small businesses could get money back or a discount on their business rates depending on the consolation’s outcome.   Business rates increased for many small businesses following April’s new business property revaluation. In his budget, the Chancellor announced relief funding for businesses affected by these large increases.   Local councils will decide on the criteria for how businesses access this funding.
