Train times change on Thameslink

Train times on Thameslink will change from Monday 22 February as Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) introduces a new, reduced weekday timetable. This, GTR said, will better match current demand and times when key workers and others make essential journeys.
The new timetable focuses services on early morning, late evening and peak-time. School travel is also accommodated in anticipation of the potential reopening.

The Bedford Commuters Association (BCA) has welcomed the announcement for plans to improve Flitwick Station’s forecourt, vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access.
Earlier this week, Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) announced that it had secured a £2.219 million grant for the development of an integrated transport hub at the Station.
The aim is to provide a more efficient way to link different modes of transport (bus, rail, car, cycling) together to encourage the transition away from driving to the station.

Central Bedfordshire Council has secured a £2.219 million grant for the development of an integrated transport hub at Flitwick Rail Station.
The project aims to provide a more efficient way to link different modes of transport (bus, rail, car, cycling) together to encourage the transition away of personal cars.
The council with its partners Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railways developed proposals that, the group said, will “radically improve” how the station functions

Network Rail is continuing with work on a £1.5 billion upgrade of the Midland Main Line which will improve journeys for all those using the route.
On 4/5 and 11/12 July, work will take place to commission and test two new substations on the route between Bedford and Ampthill.
This work is part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade and will provide the power needed to allow more trains to run in the future.

Community celebrates funding for lifts at Flitwick station

Thameslink rail managers and community leaders have welcomed a Government announcement of additional money for Network Rail to make Flitwick station fully accessible.
The additional £50m of Access For All funding was announced in Wednesday’s budget and detailed by the Department for Transport.
It will be used to provide a new footbridge with lifts at the station.
