London Northwestern Railway confirms return of train services to Marston Vale Line

London Northwestern Railway has today (6 April 2021) confirmed the return of train services to the Marston Vale Line from next week as national lockdown measures ease further.

East West Rail launches new consultation for local rail links

The East West Railway Company (EWR Co) is encouraging people from towns and villages between Oxford, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Cambridge to take part in the next phase of public consultation.

It said the comments and ideas received will feed into the design, construction and operation of this rail scheme. Adding that it could provide people from communities across the area with new connections to family, friends, jobs, education and leisure activities

Hundreds of Community Rail volunteers poised to play a key role in Midlands and East of England’s recovery

Members of a grassroots rail movement – including the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership – have continued to strive for communities in the Midlands and East of England towards a greener transport future, despite the pandemic.

Figures from Community Rail Network’s Community Rail in the Midlands and East briefing, sponsored by Rail Delivery Group, highlight that more than 8,000 volunteers give 37,000 hours annually to improve social inclusion and wellbeing, promote sustainable and healthy travel, and support economic development and tourism in their local area, valued at £3.1 million.

Marston Vale Line passengers offered chance to quiz London Northwestern Railway bosses

Passengers who use London Northwestern Railway (LNR) services on the Marston Vale Line are being offered the chance to have their questions answered as part of a new online Q&A.

This is part of LNR’s commitment to keep its customers informed. Previously, it has held regular face-to-face sessions for passengers at stations across the network as part of its popular ‘Whistle Stop Tour’.

New political map for Central Bedfordshire

Following a review, the Boundary Commission has today (12 January 2021) launched its final recommendations for the whole of Central Bedfordshire.

It says residents should be represented by 63 councillors. This is four more than there are now.

Bedfordshire Police: Possible hare coursing incident in Millbrook

Bedfordshire Police received a report of suspicious behaviour, possibly hare coursing, on Friday 20 November, at just after 1pm.

A silver hatchback car was seen in fields at Millbrook along with five people and some dogs. Officers attended the scene, but could not locate either the dogs, or any vehicles.

Wanted: Greensand Champions – those making positive environmental change in Greensand Country

Local environmental charity The Greensand Trust in partnership with Greensand Country is putting the “Green into Greensand” and looking for Greensand Champions.

These are groups or individuals who are doing something amazing for the Greensand Country environment. The Trust wants to hear what people are doing and give them the recognition they deserve as ‘Greensand Champions’.

Train services resume on the Marston Vale Line

Train services resumed on the Marston Vale Line on Monday 24th August. This is initially only at peak times (three journeys each way in the morning and three in the evening). It is supplemented by a Rail Replacement Bus Service during the rest of the day.

Special poetry plaque in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore at Millbrook Station

London Northwestern Railway has unveiled (14 August 2020) a poetry plaque in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore at his home station on the Marston Vale line.

Millbrook is a small village and civil parish in Bedfordshire, England. It has a population of around 150. It has a railway station (two miles away), on the Marston Vale Line.

Millbrook is also home to the Millbrook Proving Ground.

Millbrook is in Central Bedfordshire Council’s Cranfield and Marston Moretaine Ward.
