Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has posted on its website to thank the community for the offers of donations to its hospitals.
Adding that it is comforting to know that the staff is in the local community’s thoughts at this challenging period.
It said that it is “truly overwhelmed” with the numerous offers of donations. However, while this is very much appreciated the Trust has to ensure that it is following national guidance at all times, encouraging people to #stayhome.
In light of this, each hospital has a process for people to donate while at the same time adhering to the strict restrictions in place to minimise the footfall.
Response for donations of homemade PPE
Unfortunately the Trust is unable to accept this as with all types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) it has have to use those supplied to use from the national NHS Supply Chain. This is to ensure all the Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control regulations have been met.
A spokesperson for the Trust said that the local hospitals do have appropriate levels of PPE for staff.
Response for donations of food or money
Due to Health and Safety and Infection Control reasons donations of cooked unpackaged foods without official ingredients and allergy information will not be accepted.
