Order your repeat prescriptions and pharmacy opening times
As Christmas approaches, there are lots of things to think about and medication needs can often get forgotten. NHS Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) is reminding patients to be prepared and make sure they have the right medicines to see them through the festive period.
Many local doctors’ surgeries and pharmacies will have different opening hours between Christmas and New Year.
Those with a long-term health condition should order and collect their repeat prescriptions in plenty of time before the holidays.
Fiona Garnett, head of Medicines Optimisation and assistant director at BCCG said:
“In order to stay well, patients should make sure they have enough medicine to see them through the Christmas period.
“This is particularly important for patients with long-term conditions who require regular medication. People may be planning to be away from home for Christmas and GP Surgeries and pharmacies opening times will be different over the festive break so now’s the time to get organised with your medication.
“It’s also a good idea to stock up your medicine cabinet so that you have self-care remedies to hand –rather than having to go out in wintry weather when you feel unwell. A pharmacist can advise on what to keep in your medicine cabinet.”

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by using GP Online Services. It is simple to register and can also be used to make and cancel appointments and view medical records.
If you are not already registered, you can find out more or ask for a registration form from your GP Practice.
