Help celebrate Bedfordshire’s countryside
The CPRE Bedfordshire Living Countryside Awards celebrate the people and projects that have a positive impact on Bedfordshire’s rural environment and urban green spaces and nominations are now open.
CPRE Bedfordshire, the countryside charity, campaigns for a thriving countryside that benefits everyone. It is passionate about making the Bedfordshire countryside a better place for everyone to live, work and enjoy.
The Living Countryside Awards have been running since 2009 and in 2021 they will be going digital. Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty around social distancing CPRE Bedfordshire has decided to take the awards in a new direction to ensure it can reach as many people as possible.
As well as celebrating the rich variety of projects in Bedfordshire, the Living Countryside Awards will promote businesses and organisations, connect nominees together to share their experience and knowledge and inspire others to engage with local projects or develop their own ideas.
From the countryside to urban green spaces, market towns and villages, the Living Countryside Awards recognise excellence across four broad categories:
- Better places to live
- Made in Bedfordshire
- Connecting people and countryside
- Inspiring young people
There is also a new Bedfordshire Choice award chosen by local people
In addition to gaining recognition for their work, the awards will give finalists the chance to showcase their projects to potential volunteers, supporters and customers.
Projects will be widely promoted on social media, on CPRE Bedfordshire’s website and in its magazine, Bedfordshire Matters.
It will also be making short films of the projects selected as finalists which will be used to celebrate their achievements and raise awareness of their work.
All nominees will also be invited to come together and share their knowledge and experience and hopefully inspire others.
Nominations are welcomed from businesses, voluntary and community groups and individuals working across Bedfordshire in rural and urban communities. Previous nominees and awards winners are also welcome to apply. You can nominate your favourite project or nominate yourself.
