Tenderlore, the Alternative-Folk trio are playing at Forest Folk and Roots
Tenderlore are an Alternative-Folk trio rich in harmony and lyrical intent blending three individual musical voices together as one though breath-taking harmonies. They bring their rich vocal textures and exciting guitar based songs to entrance you.
The trio, Hayley McDonnell, Olly Lewis and Rob Kitney met whilst at university in Southampton as fellow singer/songwriters. Inspired by each other’s music they began to collaborate on each other’s songs and make their mark on the local music scene.
Their crafted songs and woven harmonies make for enthralling live performances. Not only are they adept vocalists, but are fantastic all-round musicians. They swap between the three of them throughout their set acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin and luscious electric guitar, each playing with a unique, varyingly accomplished style.
Debut album released in 2015
Since their debut album launch in May 2015, the trio have continued to gig widely across the South. Recent gigs have seen Tenderlore supporting raucous folk rockers Mad Dog McCrea, 60s pop legends The Move, and acclaimed folk guitarist and singer Martin Simpson.
Inspired by the likes of Crosby, Stills and Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleet Foxes and Laura Marling, Tenderlore’s unique sound is the amalgamation of three individual musical identities blending perfectly as one.
Their second studio album, Ty Crwn (which means “Round House” in Welsh) saw the trio expand to a five piece and go electric, with the addition of bass and drums duo David Phillips and Ross Gordon.
“It’s a distinctive album that takes them a step beyond their trad-folk roots, and is drenched in glorious and distinctive jazz influenced harmonies. Rich in glissandos, intervals are fresh and contemporary, and whilst classic harmony driven rock bands of the 1970’s are referenced, this is no mere tribute work, but a thing of its own.”
